How Long Does It Take For Eyebrows To Grow Back

Imagine yourself in front of the mirror, examining your eyebrows. You’re okay
with the shape and all until you see a tiny stray hair growing out of nowhere.

You take your tweezers and very gently pluck out that single strand.

Oh, but wait.

There are a couple more that seem out of place so you pluck those out too. You might as well make your arch more defined too. And your brow line could use a little grooming.

Fast forward to ten minutes later and you’ve plucked out ¼ of your eyebrows.

Ok, maybe not 1/4, but you definitely had thicker eyebrows when you started!

We’ve all been there. And when that happens we all wonder how soon before our eyebrows grow back.

Best case scenario, hair will reappear in 5-8 weeks.

The length of time can be shorter or longer depending on age, metabolism, race, and weight.

It also depends on what stage your eyebrows were at when you removed them.

And the manner in which they were removed.

Our hair grows in three phases.

Anagen - The actual eyebrow growth phase. How long it lasts depends on a person’s gender, age, and genetics.

Catagen - The resting phase when your eyebrow hairs stop growing. Typically lasts 2-4 weeks. During this time the hair follicle stops producing hair.

Telogen - The natural shedding phase. Hair is fully grown and ready to fall out. Old hair lies dormant and new hair begins to grow from the hair follicle, pushing the old hair out naturally.

The best time to pluck your eyebrows is at the telogen phase when hair is ready to fall off anyway. Plucking brows at the anagen stage will take longer to grow back since they were not able to complete their cycle.

Tweezing waxing or threading your eyebrows may make hair grow back slower because it removes hair from the root. It will take more time for the hair to reform and push it’s way outward. So hair regrowth can take 4-6 weeks. Doing all these can also damage or traumatize the hair follicle, causing hair to grow back thinner or paler, or stop growing altogether.

On the other hand, shaving just cuts off the hair at the level of (or maybe just slightly under) the top layer of the skin. The root and hair shaft is still intact. So hair can grow back faster.

There you have it. The lowdown on how long it takes for your eyebrows to grow back.

Tip: Want to make eyebrows grow back faster, thicker and fuller? Using an eyebrow serum is the best way to go.

Eyebrows have an average 5-7 week growth cycle.
Just like eyelashes, eyebrows have an average 5-7 week growth cycle; Actually, it can be a little shorter or longer than this, given your age, metabolism, race, weight and more, but 6-8 weeks is the steady truth.
